As we come to a close on the school year, I have one last pick of the week for WLFC. To wrap the year up, the pick this week is “It’s Called: Freefall” by Rainbow Kitten Surprise. Rainbow Kitten Surprise is an alternative indie rock band from Boone, NC. They formed in 2013 when the founding members began making music together at Appalachian State University.
The song “It’s Called: Freefall” has very poetic lyrics that tug on the heartstrings of listeners. The song starts very melodic and slow then evolves into something more upbeat and rap based. The rhythm to the song is captivating and will have listeners playing it over and over all day. The song is very appealing to listeners of all types of music.
If you enjoy artists such as Coast Modern, Hippo Campus, or Netherfriends, I highly recommend giving Rainbow Kitten Surprise a listen. They will have you wrapped in their music all day and their soundtrack will make a great summer album to listen to anytime.

This is the first time Franz Ferdinand has released a full album in nearly five years.
The style of the song “Always Ascending” is nothing new to Franz Ferdinand. This song has all the classical styles of the indie rock group; it is punk-funk and classic in nature. While sticking to a classic sound, it captures several futuristic vibes.
