Art and Culture Show with Sharinda Welton and guests Findlay String Quartet. (S5E7)
The Findlay String Quartet was founded in 1986. Tom Carey, first violin, has performed professionally in numerous orchestras. Currently, he is the Concertmaster with the Lima Symphony. Tom retired from the University of Findlay where he served as the first conductor for the orchestra, while also teaching violin, viola and cello. He also retired from Findlay City Schools and Van Buren Elementary School where he served as a string and classroom teacher.
Ken Pressel, second violin, is currently the Director of the Findlay City Schools Orchestra Program. He has performed professionally in numerous orchestras.
Dave Hanson, viola, is the retired Director of the Findlay City Schools orchestra program where he taught for 35 years. He was also a professor of string methods, double bass, and classical guitar at Heidelberg University for 41 years. His primary instrument is the double bass on which he has performed with the Toledo and Lima Symphony Orchestras.
Anita Schaible, cello, has taught strings and general music in both Texas and Ohio. She recently completed her formal teaching career as a member of the music faculty of the Findlay City Schools. Although playing the cello in the quartet, she also is a highly trained bassoonist.
